The ill-fated disease of superiority

I have learned that “Be perfect as Our Father in Heaven is perfect” is our first commandment. I have also learned that within each one of us a fragment of Our Father is guiding us diligently to His kingdom. As one can see, God Himself has allowed us to be like Him, to be a part of Him.

Something did strike me when I was watching “Star Trek, the First Contact” a few weeks ago. The Vulcans came down on Earth after they noticed the warp signature of our first trial to reach the speed of light. One must assume that they had access to such a technology well before we did. Consequently, space travels and maybe time travels might have been part of their daily routine. But, why should we end up leading the “Federation” in the “Star Trek series?”

I was appalled to learn that during the slavery times in the United States of America that the White Southerners would use a black child as bait in order to attract crocodiles to the surface of lakes, swamps and rivers in order to kill them. Being a native of Haiti, I’m pretty aware of the atrocities of the French, Spanish and English colons. Still today, I’m quietly listening to the speeches about the glories of the great civilized nations of the free world and God loving people. I’m quietly listening.

On our physical plane, skin color, intellect, wealth, power, social status, and in some cases, gender, faith and belief, sexual orientation, plays a major role in the dialectic among individuals, peoples, nations and even civilizations. Imagine the trauma when one arrives on a plane, which is this case a spiritual one, where none of the above provides any kind of entitlements, privileges, advantages and even a guarantee for survival.

I always smiled when, in any Star Trek episodes, I heard that “People on Earth during the 24th century are no longer motivated by profit and power. Peace was achieved among all nations.” What happened then? If we can say that today, do we really need 300 years more in order to make it happen? Who is hampering the pace of such a great liberation? Do we strongly believe that we deserve to lead the “Federation”, this Federation of people well more advanced than us?

I will never know what is to be a White man, or a Chinese, or an Indian, or a Hindu. I totally refuse to be in anybody else’s shoes even for one second. They are on their own pool and I’m in mine. The best I can do is to show and share as much love and compassion Our Father in Heaven is showing and truly sharing with all of us, all of his children who are being born from His Creators Sons.

I respect the right and the privilege of those who strongly believe that they are superior, the right and privilege of those who believe that they are the chosen ones. They can read their scriptures as long as they want, try to understand them as much as they can, and end up convinced that my skin color is indeed the color of my soul and that I’m the devil’s child. The same question always came to my mind—Father, what would have they come up with if they were immortal?

Words of Faith!
